Term Definition
Accent colour The colour from which a preset derives its tones.
Application converter A converter registered for a type, applied to every column of that type or of its subtypes, in every sheet class.
Application defaults The SheetsmithDefaults of a generator: default formats, preset and accent colour.
Cascade The fixed order in which styles are laid on top of each other, attribute by attribute, to obtain the effective style of a cell.
Cell value A CellValue: what a converter returns and the library writes.
Column A field annotated with @ExcelColumn.
Converter An implementation of CellConverter, turning a field value into a cell value.
Data row A row produced by one element of the data list, numbered from 1.
Effective style The result of the cascade for one cell.
Field converter A converter declared on one column with @ExcelColumn.converter.
Frame The outer border drawn with @ExcelSheet.outerBorder.
Generator An instance of Sheetsmith.
Named style A set of formatting attributes declared with @ExcelStyle and identified by its name.
Preset A ready-made table style generated from an accent colour.
Role The position of a cell in the table (odd or even row, first or last row, first or last column), which selects the slots that apply.
Sheet class A class annotated with @ExcelSheet, describing one table.
Slot A place where a named style is applied, by name.
Style sheet A class annotated with @ExcelStyleSheet that holds shared named styles.
Unset The default value of a style attribute, which overrides nothing.
